Activity 1
Take a picture of yourself participating in a popular New Zealand sport. On your blog tell us the name of the sport and why you have chosen it.
Answers:
This sport is Netball and I have chosen it because I think it is a really energetic sport and you can also run around and have fun at the same time.
Activity 2
Write a short paragraph describing your sporting hero. Who is he/she? Why are they your favourite sportsman?
Answers:
My sporting hero is Valerie Adams because she is a very competitive person and she is a role model to never give up but keep trying.
Bonus Activity

On your blog tell us which sport you think is the best. Be sure to tell us why. Give us as many reasons as you can!
Answers:
The sport I think is the best is Rugby because it is a very known sport in New Zealand and while playing you can also have fun. I also think it is the best sport because you can get a lot of exercise and play with your family and friends.

  1. Hi Mikaela,

I love the photo of you playing netball! Wonderful! You look like a very happy athlete!

And I agree with your choice of Valerie Adams as an inspiring competitor as she is both talented and hard-working. It's incredibly difficult to achieve international standing in a sport - she has accomplished a great deal by being selected to represent New Zealand at the Olympics. It was wonderful to watch her compete in Rio, wasn't it?!

You've commented that you like rugby. Do you and your family play rugby in your local park as a fun activity?

I think that rugby players are very brave as it can be quite a rough sport. But it does give everyone a chance to get lots of running in and lots of good exercise, for sure!!

I hope you're enjoying a beautiful day in Auckland! Great blogging!

  2. Hi Mikaela,

I loved the picture that you posted of yourself playing netball. I love to play netball as well! It's a great sport. Although my partner, Andy, and my stepson, Billy, recently both injured themselves playing netball and have to wear casts. Andy ruptured a tendon in his knee and Billy broke his leg. Yikes! They will have to be a bit more careful the next time they step onto the court.

Have you ever experienced an injury playing netball? I hope not!

    Best,
    Rachel :)
