The Game - Astria

: Astria :
- Countdown To Impact -

This morning my class spent an hour playing a game that included a lot of reading and thinking. The game is called Astria and it is a game where we have to problem solve and find which out of three solutions is the right solution to the 1 problem. My partner and I were able to find a whole lot of information about 2 solutions and we noticed that both of them wouldn't be good to solve the problem.

A student in another school has recently blogged that:
“Students don’t learn much playing this game called Astria – Countdown to Impact: Their time could be better spent doing other things”.
Do you agree, disagree or partly agree/disagree?
I partly agree and partly disagree because it does take up plenty of time but it also can teach us how to think more critically and to make the right choices. This can help me think more critically because in the future there will be situations where we will need to think very hard before doing what we do. It will also help me make the right choices because we never know if we are given the task to make a big decision. The decision we make is very important and we have to make sure that it is the right and safest decision.

On a scale of 1-5, how successfully did you problem solve with your partner today?
My partner and I have not solved the problem but we have found a lot of information about 2 of the solutions. From a scale of 1-5 I think that we have solved part of the problem so I would rate our problem solving skills a 3.5.

Write a blog to list the top 5 things you think people should watch out for to help identify fake news (How to identify fake news)
- The first thing you should look at when identifying fake news is to look at who the publisher/person/company/organization is. To see if the person/people are high in their position of reporting different news articles.
- Focus on how many times it acknowledges the subject. How much bias there is within the article. How many times does it say something good about it.
- Does it make sense? If it does not make sense then the news may not be real.
- You can too check that the facts are true by doing some research and seeing if any other websites have the same or similar information.
- From your own point of view does the information and facts seem to be convincing or just a bunch of words put together.
