Day 20 - Week 4.
Your trip has now come to an end and it’s time to fly back to New Zealand. As you board the airplane, you start to think about all of the people who will be waiting to pick you up from the airport in Auckland and you get very excited. It’s time to go home!

Activity 1
Imagine that you have just arrived at the airport in Auckland. Your whole family is there to greet you. They can’t wait to hear all about your trip! You decide that you’ll go home and have a special meal together to celebrate your return. Your mum offers to make you anything that you would like to eat. On your blog, tell us what you would choose to have for your special meal.
If it was me, I would ask for homemade hamburgers with ketchup, American-style mustard, onions, tomato and lettuce; Cajun-style wedges with tomato sauce and Greek salad with cherry tomatoes and lots of feta cheese. For dessert I would ask for vanilla cake with chocolate icing and neopolitan ice cream. What would you ask for?
Answers:
I would choose to have hamburgers for my special meal with some tropical juice to drink. And for desert I would have Chocolate ice cream in waffle cones.
Activity 2
After four full weeks of planning and travelling, you are now safely back in New Zealand. You have now had some time to relax and to reflect on your experiences. What are two things that you have learned from your travels? On your blog, tell us about any two things that you have learned.
Answers:
1. One thing that I have learned from my travels is that you must know which Airline you are flying with or you might miss your flight or go onto the wrong aircraft.
2. Another thing that I learned from my travels is that if you would like to visit different places you must have a vehicle ready in order for you to transport from here to there.
Bonus Activity
School is about to start again for a new year. Yay! Imagine that you walked into your classroom and your teacher asked you to stand up in front of the class and talk about the country that you visited. On your blog, you can:
- Post a short video clip of yourself talking about the country that you visited and the things that you learned (1 – 2 minutes)
- Type out what you would say to the class if you had 1 – 2 minutes to speak.
Answers:
If I had 1 - 2 minutes to speak I would say that I had learned lots of things about Canada and would tell them about what the weather was like and also the different transportation that could be used.
Hey Mikaela,
ReplyDeleteI just saw your blog and it is amazing. First of all congrats on your finish. Second of all You must of learned lots of things about Canada so good on you.
Happy New Year #2017
Jerome :)
Hey Mikaela,
ReplyDeleteGreat work and I can't believe you have already finished.
Happy Holidays Katelyn :)
Huge congratulations on finishing up the entire Summer Learning Journey programme. You have done a fabulous job. Way to go, Mikaela!!
ReplyDeleteI hope that you have enjoyed the journey. It sounds like you have learned a lot about Canada's weather and about the best way to travel to/from North America. You are right to note that you need to be aware of your airlines and ensure that you pay careful attention to your flight details. It would be awful to miss a flight, wouldn't it?
As long as you do pay attention to the details you will definitely get home safely and be able to enjoy your treat meal. I love your choice of hamburgers, tropical juice and chocolate ice cream cones. Waffle cones really are the best, aren't they? I love them, as well. Perhaps you could treat yourself to a chocolate cone as a reward for finishing the Summer Learning Journey.
In my opinion, you have definitely earned a treat!
Rachel :)
Hi Mikaela,
ReplyDeleteYum!!! Hamburgers and chocolate ice cream in waffle cones - I'm with you!! Those are favourites of mine too!
I think you give good advice about traveling - it is very important to keep track of the airline you're flying on so that you don't miss your flight and other connecting flights and so that you know which part of the airport to go to in order to get on the right plane at the right time! And, having a plan for transportation once you've arrived in another country is very important as well! There's nothing worse than arriving in a new place without any idea as to how you're going to get to wherever you're staying or to the places you're hoping to visit! You made good points!
I hope that you can visit Canada one day and then tell your family and friends about this huge country of ours! Canada is so large that it takes days to travel by car from one coast to another. And there are so many different kinds of environments within Canada that it can be hard to describe - we have mountain ranges in the west and also in the east. We have a huge prairie in the middle of the country, the arctic in the north and the Canadian Shield in Ontario and Quebec which is a very rocky area, heavily covered by trees and scrub. So Canada is a lot of different things to different people. Come and see one day!

Hi Mikaela. You've travelled a long way on this project, well done you! Canada is a really big place, plenty to see and do, and very diverse. That just means there is tremendous variety of scenery, weather, resources, people and challenges!
ReplyDeleteAs Rachel and Leslie said in their blogs, Canada is definitely worth a visit, and I hope you will get the chance to come here. Maybe not on a day like today, when it is -25 C and windy! Perhaps in the summer, when you'll be able to get the most delicious hamburger, chips and milk shakes ever at the Dairy Queen restaurant on Merivale Road in Ottawa, where all the cool kids in the neighbourhood bring their cool cars to be admired on Wednesday nights! You can see this restaurant here:

Congratulations on completing this project!
